Explor was running major global seismic projects, but their website still introduced them as a small Canadian contractor. We repositioned the brand to match their reach and built a website that pre-qualifies prospects before any calls get booked, saving them valuable time and energy.

Prospects move through the pipeline much easier now with the pre-qualification happening online and before any meetings hit the CEO’s calendar.

Explor is a seismic company that delivers superior results with near zero environmental impact. Using ultra-high-clarity technology, they help energy companies and government bodies “see” underground without causing the usual destruction above.

The scope and impact of Explor’s work had outgrown their online presence. After expanding from Canada to international markets, landing projects in the Grand Canyon, the Amazon, Chile, and Bolivia, their website still looked and read like they were a small Canadian contractor.

Meanwhile, the CEO was carrying everything, including spending valuable hours on qualification calls with prospects. Our goal was to pivot Explor’s brand positioning and develop a website to represent their true reach and impact, and help qualify and filter their prospects.

STEP 1

Brand Positioning

Explor wanted to expand from its small contractor role into a compelling solution for energy companies and government bodies that have a responsibility to protect critical environments. 

Seismic work often requires heavy logging and other forms of destruction, and Explor was ready to position themselves as a high-quality, nimble, low-impact option for collecting crucial underground data. We helped develop their new positioning in three key ways:

Smaller, faster, lower impact.

We demonstrated their innovative technology and approach by telling the story of all the ways they operate differently. Not only is their tech lower-impact and the imaging higher-quality, but its efficiency and small size also allows them to get into hard-to-reach places, and faster than their competition.

Proven where it counts.

We laid out the details of Explor’s seismic technology, showcasing the environments in which it is proven to operate, relevant industries it has provided solutions for, and relevant source technologies that their potential customers would be looking for.

STEP 2

Website

Explor’s brand is all about modern tech providing high-quality results at a low cost to the environment. Their new website is sleek and modern, featuring rich imagery of the environments they work in and protect on a daily basis. During this project, we:

  • Led the website strategy + build

  • Developed wireframes to guide content and ensure the site was easy to navigate and easy to understand

  • Built a high-functioning intake flow to capture project details, including a signed NDA to reduce administrative load

The right conversations now happen faster and the wrong ones never make it on the calendar.

STEP 3

Messaging Strategy + Support

We collaborated closely with copywriter Paul Long to refine wording, placement, and clarity across the site.

Explor’s website messaging is now confident, succinct, and clear. The imagery and messaging had to support one another, since this brand is better visualized as it’s read about.

One challenge with this website was determining how to showcase the technology while protecting the company’s IP. We were ultimately able to demonstrate Explor’s capability and impact without giving away too much information on the innovations that make it possible.

The Outcome

Explor was always an exceptionally bold and innovative company doing amazing things, and now the wrapping does justice to its impact and potential. No longer positioned as a small Canadian contractor, Explor now has the professional look, feel, and materials it requires to enter important rooms and showcase their technology for people in positions of power.
